Cassandra Gerardo awarded 2018 Monotype Scholarship for Excellence in Design Criticism

Congratulations to Cassandra Gerardo, who is the recipient of the 2018 Monotype Scholarship for Excellence in Design Criticism, awarded yearly to the student who achieves the highest cumulative GPA in the Fall 2017 semester of our one-year Master’s program.

Cassandra comes to us with a background in graphic and communication design, most recently as lead art director for TOCCA Beauty. Cassandra’s research at D-crit focuses on how identities are designed, communicated, and consumed through social media channels, specifically Instagram.

For more from Cassandra, read Moon Memes and Fashion Themes: Social Media at the turn of the 20th Century, an essay she penned for a Research & Writing I assignment centered around the New York Public Library’s Digital Collections.
