devoted to the study of design, its contexts & consequences.
Our graduates have gone on to pursue research-related careers in publishing, education, museums, institutes, design practice, entrepreneurship, & more.3

Alan Rapp – SVA MA Design Research

Alan Rapp is senior editor at The Monacelli Press, where he develops books in the fields of architecture, design, and photography. He has contributed writing to a new monograph by photographer Joël Tettamanti, as well as Modern PaintersThe Photobook ReviewWired DesignDwellUrban Omnibus, and numerous other publications. Alan leads graduate thesis and design seminars at Pratt Institute. He operates an editorial consultancy, ARstudio, where he works with authors, visual artists, photographers, and designers to develop visual book projects and bring them to publication.
