Atiyah Curmally – SVA MA Design Research

I’m originally from India and have lived in the States for fifteen years. I am working on a Masters in Decorative Arts and Design History from the Smithsonian-George Washington Corcoran program. Besides personal development, the program has reinforced analytical frameworks to support connoisseurship and a comprehensive understanding of the history and influence of the decorative arts on design. I am hoping for the Summer Intensive to strengthen my writing skills in support of the object based curriculum of the Masters as well as to reorient my focus from technical writing to writing for the arts (my day job is working as an environmental specialist). I’m also looking forward to the opportunities to meet with and learn from experts in the field and as well as peers .
