Brittany Dickinson – SVA MA Design Research
Brittany Dickinson recently graduated from the MA Design Research, Writing and Criticism program where she was the 2015 recipient of the Monotype Award for Excellence in Design Criticism. Her thesis, titled “Fashion Vice: Preparing Design Students to Reform the Industry,” focused on the role of fashion design schools in addressing social and environmental issues. Brittany also holds a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design from the University of Cincinnati, and she worked as a clothing designer at J.Crew for five years before coming to SVA. She currently teaches a third-year studio course at Parsons The New School for Design titled Specialized Studio: Systems & Society, and she recently served as Program Assistant for the Impact: Design for Social Change summer intensive at SVA. Brittany is passionate about fostering future generations of ethical designers and critical thinkers to build a sustainable future.
