devoted to the study of design, its contexts & consequences.
Our graduates have gone on to pursue research-related careers in publishing, education, museums, institutes, design practice, entrepreneurship, & more.3

Olivia Xu – SVA MA Design Research

Olivia Xu is an active designer, sculptor and researcher examining the theory and practice of arts in public domain.

Olivia holds a B.A. in English and Master of Design Study, Design Theory and Application degree from China Academy of Art. She has been working at the Public Art Research Center of China Academy of Art, where she accomplished many awarding winning works including Zhejiang Pavilion in Shanghai EXPO. She was one of the key curators for the Forth West Lake International Sculpture Invitational Exhibition. She starts her own design firm and practices design and public arts focusing on sustainability, interaction, and technology.

She is looking forward to enriching herself through her experience at SVA and in New York City.
