With earning my B.Arch. degree in 2016, the five years I spent in design school kindled my interests in Urban Design and in understanding the importance of the role that culture, history, geography, and society, played in the dynamics of the Architecture of any region. With this interest came the need and desire to equip myself in other related fields, such as writing, photography, and illustration that help me to learn about the factors that influence the creation and execution of a design. Hence, I decided to dedicate the following year in exploring the various related art forms to experience the fundamental relationship they shared with architecture in its roots. Although my ability to use these arts to express my ideas gave me a sense of satisfaction, now, at the end of the year, I realize that my journey with Architecture and the related arts have just begun. Therefore, with the chance to be a part of the Design Research and Writing Summer Intensive and to visit the United States of America knocking my door at that opportune moment, I decided to embark on the journey clocking 8000 miles from my hometown of Chennai in South India to experience America’s dream-like built forms and the multicultural society that is constantly shaping it.
