Thesis Development Workshop
In the Thesis Development Workshop, through group meetings and one-on-one consultations, students are guided through the process of identifying problems, developing critical questions, conducting a literature review, and embarking on primary research. Invited guests will discuss research methodologies from a variety of disciplines and useful research tools. The group workshop will meet primarily during the first half of the fall semester; in the second half of the semester the students will have individual meetings with thesis advisors. At the end of the first semester students produce a thesis statement, which they will present with images (Thesis Work in Progress Presentations) to a panel of faculty and invited critics; there will be a workshop with an invited external critic prior to the Thesis Work in Progress Presentations. Using the feedback received on presentations, students turn in a Thesis Statement and Literature Review at the end of the Fall semester.
