devoted to the study of design, its contexts & consequences.
Our graduates have gone on to pursue research-related careers in publishing, education, museums, institutes, design practice, entrepreneurship, & more.3

Aidan O’Connor – SVA MA Design Research

Aidan O’Connor is a design curator, educator, and consultant based in Brooklyn. A member of the Association of Art Museum Curators, she has worked in curatorial departments at MoMA, Cooper Hewitt, the Met, and Harvard’s Peabody Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology and guest curated exhibitions for the High Museum of Art in Atlanta and Vandalorum in Sweden. Additional experiences include directing strategic initiatives at AIGA, the national association for design, and managing the National Design Awards at Cooper Hewitt. Now working independently, she applies a broad expertise in modern and contemporary design to exhibitions, strategy, and programming projects for design agencies, nonprofits, and corporate clients. Special interests include design for children, Nordic cultures, responsible and sustainable design, technology, pop culture, gender equity, diversity & inclusion, and STEAM education. She holds an MA in design history from Parsons/Cooper Hewitt and a BA in archaeology and social anthropology from Harvard University.
