A Critical Reader for Critical Times – SVA MA Design Research

A Critical Reader for Critical Times

Over the next year the department of Design Research, Writing & Criticism will collect short selections or excerpts of texts that members of our community have found particularly resonant, comforting, or empowering in the context of the present political moment. These readings might come from philosophy, literature, criticism, or science fiction. Or they may be self-authored.

To jumpstart the project, we will hold a live reading of these selections on February 14, in conjunction with a Monacelli Press book sale that will be happening in the department all afternoon and into early evening. The hope is that through this event we’ll begin to gather a body of work that we can share publicly via our website, and later, if there’s sufficient interest, publish a print edition.

All friends, faculty and alumni of the program are invited to contribute and participate. You are welcome to share this event and link to our tracking doc of proposed readings.
