Amber Hopkins – SVA MA Design Research

Amber Hopkins (she/they) is a somatic educator and interdisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, NY. She holds a B.A. in writing from Mills College and a professional four-year certification as a Feldenkrais Practitioner. Their studies have included special emphasis in book arts and typography, including letterpress. Amber is a co-founder of Autosomatica, a private practice prioritizing leadership among feminine-of-center educators and services for BI/POC, T/GNC, disabled, queer, immigrant and fiscally challenged individuals within the field of somatics. Autosomatica has taught through Arts on Site, Mark Morris Dance Center, Gibney Dance, Bronx Museum and Judson Memorial Church. The purpose of Amber’s personal project, realm (realm.nyc), is to organize strategies for intimacy and self-inquiry with sensory awareness and aesthetic integrity as grounding principles. Offerings under realm explore the transformative combination of intellectual concepts, artistic tools and emotional landscapes in a peer-led environment.
