Ana Maria Toro – SVA MA Design Research

Ana Maria Toro is a recent graduate from The College of New Jersey with a BFA in Graphic Design and a passion (minor) in Art History. Always a little sad she couldn’t develop a double major in these two fields (studio classes within a liberal arts college didn’t leave much room for anything else), she’s looking for ways to incorporate her love of design and academia into an immersive discipline. Constantly striving to connect these two interests, she did her capstone research on museums and their recent turn to rebranding and interactivity, while simultaneously being the primary designer for her college art gallery. She expects the Summer Intensive program to strengthen her writing and analytical skills, as well as provide her with an opportunity to learn more about the design world and inform her about the potential directions her future could take. She loves to travel, particularly to Colombia, where she’s originally from, as well as Spain, where her last name feels right at home. Besides her love of travel, she loves museums and going to concerts, and has a bucket list solely dedicated to museums and music festivals abroad that she hopes to visit soon.
