Cornelia Smith – SVA MA Design Research

Cornelia Smith (she/her) is a contemporary arts writer based in Brooklyn, NY. Over the last year, Cornelia has worked as a writer and editor for Pollinate Art, a small company working to connect artists with their communities. In May, she joined Artsy as a full-time editorial content coordinator, tracking art market trends, writing about emerging artists, and conducting interviews with artists and collectors.

While pursuing her BA in Art History at Columbia, Cornelia interned at A.I.R. Gallery and was an editor for the Journal of Art Criticism. She spent the first half of her senior year in Paris, where she had the opportunity to work on an independent research project focused on visual representations of female-coded bodies in public urban spaces. Though rooted in art historical research, this project spurred an interest in urban design, which has since blossomed into a passion for research in accessibility, design justice, and structural inequality.
