Erin Dinneen
MA Design Research, Writing & Criticism (2019)
Erin Dinneen is a designer from Toronto interested in the contrast between the human and the technological, and the power of fictional worlds, particularly in science fiction, to simultaneously communicate big ideas and connect emotionally with an audience. She is a recent graduate of the York University/Sheridan College program in Design, where she earned her Bachelor of Design and was the Director of Print Content for the 2019 graduation showcase. Her senior thesis examined the ways in which meaning is constructed out of that which is meaningless, re-contextualizing the random and mundane into sources for creative inspiration.
In her work, Erin focuses on typography and editorial design, and is the 2018 recipient of the Applied Arts Student Award in Typography Design & Application. She has also shown work at Toronto Design Directory’s typography show Swash & Serif 5.
