Katya Mezhibovskaya
SVA MFA Design Criticism (2012)
Katya Mezhibovskaya is a designer and critic hailing from Moscow and Brooklyn. After studying Painting, Art History, and Gender Studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art, she completed her BFA at the School of Visual Arts in Graphic Design with a focus on print design and semiotics. While working towards her MFA in Design Criticism (2012,) also from the School of Visual Arts, she worked as a book jacket designer at Vintage EspaƱol and Vintage/Anchor Books. She is now the senior designer at Bloomsbury Publishing and continues to be fascinated by visual anthropology, societal and linguistic etymologies, memory and its residue. Her mission is to use design and criticism to write love letters to ideas and to make the familiar strange.
