
Ksenya Samarskaya
Ksenya Samarskaya is a strategist and creative practitioner, fascinated with the nuances inherent in our visual and literary culture. Born in the Soviet Union, Samarskaya left in 1989 as a refugee, spending time in Italy before eventually landing in Seattle, Washington. She holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Oregon in installation art and photography, and has spent the past decade deep in the trenches of type design. Clients and collaborators have included Apple, Bacardi, Font Bureau, Google, Intel, Monotype, Rosetta, WeWork, and YouTube among others. Samarskaya has served on the board of AIGA/NY, and judged design competitions including Communication Arts, TISDC, TDC, and the SoTA Catalyst Award. She currently splits her time between Brooklyn and Barcelona, Spain where she teaches at Harbour.Space University.
