MA Design Research, Writing & Criticism (2016)
Lorena Canales Morales is a food and design critic who explores material culture through people’s interaction with pop phenomena, food, and objects. After an undergraduate degree in industrial design, she quickly realized she enjoyed the stories behind the object just as much the objects themselves and started writing. She developed her food and design sensibilities while exploring her hometown, Guadalajara, Mexico, and its street food for Guía La Perla, and Ingesto, now defunct travel projects she co-founded in 2011. To this day, she continues her gastronomic ventures through baking experiments and exploring New York City’s culinary scene.
