Marco Rathjen
MA Design Research, Writing & Criticism (2020)
Marco studied architecture in Berlin and computer science and digital arts at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. After working as a QA engineer for Fidelity in the Research Triangle, he relocated to Philadelphia to pursue a design research graduate degree at Drexel University. Marco is especially interested in the societal impact of design decisions and in the dichotomy of public and private spaces within cities—specifically their enforcement by architectural interventions. His graduate work at Drexel investigated design strategies to mitigate surveillance technology, especially biometric algorithms.
