María de la Paz Faúndez is a Chilean architect and writer based in Santiago. She is currently researching the relationship between economy, politics, urban development and architecture of mid-century Santiago. María de la Paz holds a professional degree in architecture and a Master of Arts in Architecture from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and also a minor in theory and history of art from the same institution, where she actually teaches theory of modern architecture at the undergraduate level and research methods at the graduate level. She has published works about the capitalization of contemporary architecture and also about theory and history of modern architecture in Plataforma Arquitectura and different blogs. She is interested in the intersection of architecture, politics, economy and gender studies and is hoping to explore the architecture behind the illegal red light districts of Santiago.
