Marina Elenskaya – SVA MA Design Research

Marina Elenskaya is a designer, curator and writer based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She received training and work experience in television and radio direction, later moving on to a more material and process-based practice. She completed a goldsmithing and jewelry design training at Alchimia Jewellery School in Florence, followed by a Bachelor of Design degree at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Since 2012 she runs and creatively directs Current Obsession—a Dutch interdisciplinary platform and independent magazine. Current Obsession facilitates opportunities for designers, works on a range of creative projects with cultural and commercial institutions, and generates exclusive online and printed content. Craving to expand her expertise and practice beyond the field of jewelry design, she hopes that the opportunity to join the summer residency at the SVA will give her new writing and analytical tools, topped off with a dollop of inspiration.
