Patricia Amorim – SVA MA Design Research

Patricia Amorim is a Brazilian design educator and researcher. Originally from Recife, a seaside town located in the Northeast region of Brazil, she currently lives in São Paulo, where she teaches Design History at ESPM Undergraduate Design Program and writes about design for publishing houses and magazines. Patricia holds a BA in Journalism and a MA in Design from Federal University of Pernambuco and she is about to complete her doctoral studies focused on the rise of industrial design in Brazil and Argentina during the 1950s and 1960s. Having just recently co-organized the São Paulo Design History Teaching Seminar 2014, she is attending SVA Summer Intensive to get inspired and learn more about thinking and writing creatively and critically about design in order to better contribute to positive changes in society by promoting design awareness. Although design is a big part of her life, Patricia also very much enjoys cooking and having friends over for dinner and music.
