Polly Adams
MA Design Research, Writing & Criticism (2020)
Polly is a design researcher and writer based in Brooklyn who aims to build bridges between people, places, and things where they ought to be built. With a background in digital product design on teams big and small, working on anything from data science tools to smart speaker instruction manuals, she’s passionate about people and figuring out ways to make the world work better for them.
Her time at SVA focused on the designed experience of collecting evidence in the art museum—from buying objects in the store to taking photos in the galleries. After spending a year researching and writing about New York City’s largest art museums and gift stores, she is interested in designed experiences that shape individual identity and codify social behavior. Currently, she’s assisting the editorial team at Oculus Magazine and seeking freelance writing opportunities that take a critical eye to design.
