Sarah Alfarhan (b. 1989) is a West Asian educator, graphic designer, and illustrator based in Kuwait. She holds a BFA in Illustration from the University of the Arts, PA, and an MS in Communications Design from Pratt Institute, NY. She works at Sharaf Studio, where she focuses on editorial design. Her artistic practice revolves around self-publishing small edition books and zines inspired by language. She looks for implications by playing with the delicate task of translation and interpretation—presenting a layer of misunderstandings and cultural connotations. Recently, she started examining sign languages and accessibility in particular. Beginning this fall, Sarah is pursuing an MFA in Child Culture Design at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
