Youyou Zhou is a data journalist working with graphics and code. She produces data-driven, visual, interactive stories that break free of text-based formats. She’s curious about all aspects of human migration in a globalized world.
After graduating from the journalism program at the University of Missouri, Youyou created large-scale data posters at the D.C.-based visualization studio Graphicacy and covered the 2016 U.S. elections and Venezuela crisis at The Associated Press. Most recently, she used data and graphics to tell stories about immigration and the global migration at the business publication Quartz. Youyou’s work has been recognized by major news design and data journalism awards. She is a founding member of Chinese Storytellers.
